Search built for roles that did not exist five years ago

Two practices, one market. Whether you are a firm building internal capability or a company building the product, the brief is usually harder than it looks — the pool is small and the people who fit are rarely looking.

For legal organisations

Building capability inside the firm

Law firms and in-house legal teams hiring the technologists who will run their AI programme, and the specialists who keep it defensible.

  • 01

    AI and innovation leadership

Chief AI Officers, heads of innovation and directors of applied AI. The roles Bloomberg Law calls the hardest in Big Law to fill, because they need applied AI depth and credibility with partners in the same person.

  • 02

    Legal engineers and solution architects

The people who sit between practice and platform: translating how the work is actually done into systems that hold up under privilege, deadline and audit.

  • 03

    Data science and machine learning

Engineers and applied researchers who can work with matter data, contract corpora and privileged material without breaking the constraints that come with it.

  • 04

    AI governance and compliance

Specialists for the work the EU AI Act and internal policy are creating: model risk, evaluation, audit trails and the documentation regulators will ask for.

  • 05

    Legal operations and transformation

Programme leads who can take an AI strategy from board approval to something fee earners actually use, and measure whether it worked.

For legal-tech platforms

Building the product the sector buys

Companies building software for the legal industry, from seed-stage teams shipping to design partners through to platforms selling into the Am Law 100.

  • 06

    Founding and senior engineering

Backend, ML and platform engineers for companies building legal software, from seed-stage teams to scale-ups shipping to Am Law firms.

  • 07

    Applied AI and research

NLP, retrieval and evaluation specialists working on the accuracy problem that decides whether legal AI is trusted in production.

  • 08

    Product leadership

Product managers and directors who understand legal workflow well enough to build for it, not just around it.

  • 09

    Go-to-market and solutions

Solutions engineers, customer engineers and commercial leaders who can hold a technical conversation with a general counsel and a buying conversation with a managing partner.

  • 10

    Executive search

CTO, VP Engineering and Chief Product Officer appointments for legal-tech businesses, handled with the same discretion as a partner move.

How a search runs

Brief, map, shortlist, close

Brief. We start by pulling apart what the role actually needs — not the job description, the job. For technology hires inside legal, the gap between those two is usually where searches fail.

Map. We build the real market: who is doing this work, where, and what would move them. Salary benchmarking comes from what is being paid, not what is being advertised.

Shortlist. A short, honest list with the reasoning attached. We would rather send three people we can defend than ten we cannot.

Close. Offer structure, counter-offer risk, and the conversations that decide whether someone actually starts. Handled properly, quietly.

Tell us about the brief

The harder the search, the more useful this conversation tends to be.
