What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Effective 4 September 2026

Who we are

Legal-Hire is a legal recruitment firm based in Los Angeles, California, serving firms across the us. We place legal professionals with law firms and in-house teams, and through Legal-Hire Tech we place technology and AI professionals with organisations in the legal sector.

We are the controller of the personal information described here. If you have a question about it, write to us at Info@legal-hire.co.

What we collect

When you use the contact form

Your first name, last name, email address, telephone number and whatever you write in the message field. All five are required to submit the form. If you started from a specific job listing, the title of that role is recorded alongside your message so we know what you are writing about.

When you simply visit the site

We record the page you viewed, the page you arrived from, the page title and the time of the visit. This is done with a small image request rather than a cookie, and it is used to understand which pages are useful. It is not used to build a profile of you or to target advertising, and we do not sell it.

This site sets no cookies. It does not use local storage, tag managers, advertising pixels or social media trackers, and it loads no third-party scripts. Typefaces are served from our own domain rather than requested from a font provider when you open a page.

When you engage with us as a candidate or a client

In the course of a search we will hold more than the form collects: your CV or resume, employment and education history, professional qualifications and admissions, references, and notes from our conversations, including your salary expectations and what you are looking for in a move. For client contacts we hold business contact details and the details of the mandate.

We may also collect professional information about you from public sources such as LinkedIn, law firm websites and legal directories, in order to approach you about a role.

Why we use it

  • To reply to an enquiry you sent us.
  • To assess your suitability for a role and, with your agreement, to put you forward to a hiring organisation.
  • To carry out a search on behalf of a client firm and keep them informed of its progress.
  • To tell you about roles that genuinely match what you told us you were looking for.
  • To understand which parts of this site are used, so we can improve them.
  • To meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations, and to establish or defend legal claims.

We rely on your consent where we need it — in particular, we do not send your details to a hiring organisation without your agreement — and otherwise on our legitimate interest in running a recruitment business, or on performing a contract with you.

Who we share it with

  • Hiring organisations. We share candidate details with a client firm only where you have agreed to be put forward to that firm. We do not circulate CVs speculatively.
  • Our own systems. Enquiries and candidate records are stored in Auto-Core, our recruitment platform, which we operate for our own use.
  • Our hosting provider. This website is served by Netlify, which processes the technical request data any web host necessarily sees, such as IP addresses in its server logs.
  • Where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

We do not sell or share your personal information for money or for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

How long we keep it

We keep candidate records for as long as you may plausibly want us to represent you, and review them periodically. Where we have had no contact with you for two years, we delete or anonymise your record unless we are required to keep it for legal or tax reasons.

Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve months. Website analytics records are retained in aggregate only.

You can ask us to delete your record sooner at any time, and we will do so unless we are legally required to retain it.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw your consent to being put forward for roles at any time without giving a reason, and it will not affect how we deal with you.

If you are a California resident

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you and where it came from, to have it deleted, to have inaccurate information corrected, to limit how we use sensitive personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. As set out above, we do not sell or share personal information.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf. We will verify a request by asking you to confirm details we already hold, and we aim to respond within forty-five days.

To make any request, email Info@legal-hire.co.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS. Access to our recruitment records is restricted to the people who need it to do the work, and is protected by individual accounts rather than shared credentials.

No system is perfect, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise. If you believe your information has been compromised, tell us at Info@legal-hire.co and we will investigate.

Children

This site is aimed at legal and technology professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Where a change is significant, we will tell the people it affects directly rather than relying on you to check.

Contact us

Questions, requests and complaints all go to the same place: Info@legal-hire.co. You can also use our contact form, though for a privacy request email is usually quicker.
